Aerial Waterbird and Migratory Shorebird SUrveys
OTS staff have decades of experience working with migratory shorebirds and waterbirds around the world, and are industry leaders in offering shorebird monitoring and research services. These include specialist techniques such as aerial surveys in large, remote wetlands.
Avian Population Demographics
OTS regularly contributes to conservation through monitoring and bird banding activities. This data provides invaluable insight into the population size and trends of local bird populations. One banding project started by OTS in 2003 is still ongoing and has resulted in over 30,000 birds being banded.
Breeding Bird Surveys and Territory Mapping
OTS ornithologists are highly-trained and familiar with the breeding biology and ethical survey techniques for a vast range of bird species, from territorial bushland birds to colonial-nesting waterbirds and seabirds.
Telemetry and home range estimation
OTS has experience in a diverse range of telemetry projects on birds. Every project is different and OTS caters to the unique characteristics of every project, from the study species’ biology, device size, GPS/VHF data, data transmission solutions, and detailed data analysis.
Bioacoustic Monitoring and ANalysis
OTS offers both in-person and automated (ARU) bioacoustic recording and monitoring services, as well as audio analysis services such as song detection, automated species identification using machine learning and AI, and abundance estimation from audio data.
